Chiefs @ Browns Week 15: "The NFL is rigged" Edition

So, on the (extremely) outside chance that someone from the NFL sees this article, let me be clear, ahem, "The NFL is NOT rigged." This is a jab at the ridiculous fans who have turned their eye of Sauron on the Chiefs and believe that the NFL and Roger Goodell are telling refs that "You need to make sure the Chiefs win."

This happens every time the NFL sees a dynasty and I'm old enough to remember that it happened with the 49ers in the 80s, the Cowboys in the 90s, and the Patriots in the 2000s and 2010s (except it was real that time 😅). So, just, please, for the love of everything holy, stop it.

Chiefs (12-1) @ Browns (3-10)

2025 NFL Draft Lookahead

After giving the EDGE rushers a look last week, I'll be turning my attention to the offensive line, tackles specifically. Given the number of injuries that the Browns have had along their offensive line this year, coupled with 2020 first rounder Jedrick Wills Jr. being a free agent at the end of the season, the Browns have to restock along the line. I'm going to focus on the tackles and while right tackles won't carry the draft capital price tag that left tackles do, the good ones will still find their way into the mid-late first round.

First up on my list is Will Campbell from LSU. He began the 2024 college season at the top of the OT list but has been surpassed by Kelvin Banks Jr. from Texas. Things may change once we get into the combine and individual workouts, but for me, these two are 1a and 1b and whoever is first is a personal preference.

Will Campbell - LSU - At 6'6" and 320lbs, Campbell has the prototypical frame the NFL looks for in its' tackles. His strength at the point of attack and ability to drop anchor in the pass game are huge pluses, he's not as technically refined as some, but everything is there if he can be polished up.

and as an added bonus, here is Campbell against EDGE Nic Scourton who i previewed last week.

Kelvin Banks Jr. - Texas - Banks has athleticism and range as well as being scheme versatile as a run blocker though sometimes he doesn't maintain his block or body control as well as he should.

Emery Jones - LSU - A high IQ player who has been an excellent offensive lineman from Day 1 in the SEC. He's not likely to be a left tackle in the NFL but could be a very good right tackle and there are even those who think that he's an instant starter as a guard where he doesn't have to face elite pass rushers.

Donovan Jackson - Ohio State - Jackson has the length, the IQ, and the athleticism to be a top level guard. If the Browns (or anyone) wants to draft him, they'll likely be able to move out of the Top 10 and still get him, after all guards, middle linebackers, and safeties are just so rarely drafted highly you can roll the dice.

Bits and Baubles

The Browns were officially eliminated from the playoffs after their loss to Pittsburgh last week. Since they came back into the league in 1999, the Browns have lost at least 10 games eighteen times. Jerry Juedy has been on fire since Jameis Winston took over under center, he needs only 56 yards to reach 1000 yards receiving for the first time in his career.

The Chiefs clinched their 9th straight AFC West title last week with their win over the Chargers, coincidentally, Travis Kelce has caught 80 passes for the 9th consecutive season. The next TD pass that Kelce catches will let him pass NFL HOFer Tony Gonzalez in the team's history.
