COLUMBUS– The Columbus Crew put on a show Sunday night in front of a sold-out Lower.com field, becoming one of just three teams to shut out the first-place FC Cincinnati in a 3-0 victory.

First half

The Crew started dominant with two close chances within the first 10 minutes, thanks to Cucho and Aidan Morris. After a near miss, Morris got the scoring started in the 15th minute with a blast into the upper right corner of the goal.

Six minutes after that, Cucho Hernández added a tally with a free kick.

To close the half, Sean Zawadski made a beautiful goal-line save and Cucho barely missed on a shot from outside of the box almost immediately following.

Second half

The half started with a slew of saves from Patrick Schulte. Diego Rossi made his long-awaited Crew debut in the 58th minute, much to the delight of (most of) the sellout crowd of 20,730 at Lower.com Field.

In the 90th minute to wrap up the game, Jacen Russel-Rowe came off the bench to put the nail in the coffin and give a 3-0 lead to the black and gold.

FC Cincinnati failed to answer in the five minutes of extra time, and the Crew took home three points.

Man of the match was given to Aidan Morris, who ignited the Crew with the opening goal.
