Week 11 Preview: Browns Vs Saints - Queasy in the Big Easy

Writer's picture: Fred WheelerFred Wheeler

There's not much to put here with the Browns coming off of a bye week. They got a chance to take a breath and reset for the remainder of the year. With just two wins on the season and a murderous remaining schedule (Ravens, Chiefs, Bengals, Steelers x2, Broncos), they'll need all the good vibes they can muster.

Things aren't much better in the Crescent City with the Saints managing only one win since they began the season 2-0, that being last week's divisional match-up with Atlanta that they took 20-17. Like Cleveland the Saints aren't really playing for anything this season and are looking to an off-season of continuing to dig themselves out of the salary cap hell that they last few years of Drew Brees' career put them in.

Browns making roster moves for next season already?

When OT Jedrick Wills made a "business decision" to sit out the October 27 win over the Ravens and rest his hyperextended left knee, did he unknowingly take himself out of the Browns 2025 plans as well?

Maybe.

Following the win, Wills was informed by Head Coach Kevin Stefanski that he would no longer be starting for the Browns at left tackle, instead, he would be a "swing tackle", backing up both RT Jack Conklin and Dawand Jones who had taken over during Wills' absence.

Will had started every game that he was healthy for since being drafted in the first round out of Alabama in 2020.

Bits and Baubles

Sunday is Jameis Winston's first start against the Saints after spending the previous four seasons in the "Big Easy", prior to this season he had spent his entire nine year career in the NFC South.

The Saints have been hit hard by injuries, especially on the offensive side of the ball, they are missing (on IR) their second, third, and seventh leading receivers as well as their sixth leading receiver (Cedrick Wilson) being questionable for the game Sunday.

Injury Report

Browns

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah - LB - OUT/IR (Neck)

Joel Bitonio - OG - Questionable

Saints

Chris Olave - WR - OUT/IR (Concussion)

Cedrick Wilson Jr. - WR - Questionable (Shoulder)

Jamaal Williams - RB - Questionable (Groin)

Kool-Aid McKinstry - CB - Questionable (Hamstring)

Pete Werner - LB - Questionable (Hand)

Fantasy Advice

David Njoku should be starting for you unless you have a Brock Bowers, Sam LaPorta, of someone of that caliber, he's had four straight weeks of 5+ catches and has 2 TDs in his last three games. Cedrick Tillman is in that same boat, he's had four straight 75+ yard receiving games and has TDs in his last three. As a streaming candidate, Jameis Winston could be a good choice, the Saints are 29th in the NFL in Pass defense.

Alvin Kamara is a natural "must start", he's averaged 104.5 total yards in two career games against Cleveland. Juwan Johnson is the Saints' fourth leading receiver but of those, only Kamara is still active ahead of him. I don't know if that means his targets will go up, but it can't hurt. If you're looking for someone who could emerge as a leading receiver, Marquez Valdez-Scantling hauled in 102 yards and 2 touchdowns last week.

Prediction

Browns 24-21
